Dog Mobility Veterinary Rehab in Harrisburg
Keeping Paws In Motion
Veterinary Rehab for Dogs and Cats
Comprehensive Physiotherapy For Dogs & cats in Harrisburg, PA
Paws in Motion animal rehab facility is committed to providing rehabilitation for our patients in and around Harrisburg County. We currently have clients who come from as far as 50 miles away. Canine (animal) rehab uses the principles of human physical rehabilitation to help dogs who are having difficulty moving, trouble walking, or who are in pain. It can also aid in helping animals regain muscle mass post operatively.
Our rehabilitation program includes a comprehensive evaluation by one of our compassionate veterinarians. A treatment plan is developed from the findings of the evaluation and in conjunction with the owner’s goals. Treatment is individualized and may include hydrotherapy, laser therapy, balance exercises, walking retraining, therapeutic exercises, soft tissue massage with manual therapy, stretching, and home exercise program.
Our Unique, "Keeping Paws in Motion" approach
Key Points:
- We offer individualized care tailored to each pet’s specific needs.
- Initial focus on pain management, transitioning to a formal rehabilitation program.
- Comprehensive evaluation process including gait analysis and strength testing.
- Collaboration with owners to help with the recovery of their pet.
It All Starts With An Evaluation
We offer comprehensive evaluations for pain management, rehabilitation therapy, and second opinions. Consulting with a rehabilitation veterinarian can be an excellent way to gain additional insight, especially for pets with subtle lameness, performance issues, or suspected soft tissue injuries that can be difficult to diagnose. When advanced diagnostics have not yet been performed, we can help guide next steps, which may include imaging such as sedated radiographs if indicated.
Prior to your visit, you’ll receive a functional questionnaire to complete 1–2 days in advance. This gives us insight into your pet’s current abilities and helps us understand your goals for therapy. During the appointment, your pet is evaluated by a veterinarian—something that sets our program apart. Our team includes two certified rehabilitation veterinarians and two certified rehabilitation technicians who work together to assess joint range of motion, gait, and strength.
Based on these findings, we develop a customized treatment plan and introduce the first set of therapeutic exercises. We’ll also take time to discuss any questions or concerns and outline the most appropriate treatment options and expected duration of care.
